Questions and answers

Everything we get asked about retinol, skin after 45 and 3A Renewal Cream. If your question is not here, email us and we will answer within a day.

Using retinol

What happens if I use retinol during the day?

Nothing dramatic, but you lose part of the effect. Retinoids break down in daylight and make the skin more sensitive to the sun, so the cream works best at night. If you have applied it in the morning by mistake, simply add a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and carry on as usual in the evening.

How often should I use 3A Renewal Cream?

Every evening. Consistency matters more than amount. If your skin is very sensitive or new to retinoids, start with three evenings a week for two weeks, then every other evening, then nightly.

How much should I apply?

A pea-sized amount for the face and a second one for the neck and jawline. Apply to clean, dry skin and let it absorb for a minute before anything else. More cream does not give faster results, only a higher chance of irritation.

Can I use it around the eyes?

Yes, on the orbital bone and the outer corners where lines form, but not on the eyelid or along the lash line. The skin there is thinner and reacts faster.

Should I use it on my neck too?

Yes. The neck and jawline are where most women first notice lost firmness, and they respond well. Use the same amount as for the face and apply with upward strokes.

Do I have to build up tolerance first?

Most women can start nightly straight away, because two of the three retinoids in 3A are released slowly and gently. If you have had a bad experience with retinol before, start with three evenings a week and increase over a month.

Your skin

My skin stings a little. Is that normal?

A light tingling the first few evenings is normal and passes. Redness, burning or flaking that lasts more than a day is a sign to slow down: use it every other evening and apply a plain moisturiser on top. If it does not settle within two weeks, contact us and we will help you.

Can I use it if my skin is sensitive?

Yes. 3A was made for skin that has become thinner and less tolerant after 45. Centella asiatica, liquorice root and ceramides are in the formula to calm and support the barrier while the retinoids work. Start every other evening if you know your skin reacts easily.

Is it suitable for oily or blemish-prone skin?

Yes. Retinoids help normalise cell turnover, which is why they are used for adult breakouts as well as lines. The texture is rich but absorbs without leaving a film. Use a smaller amount if your skin is very oily.

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Retinoids are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. We advise waiting, and talking to your doctor or midwife if you are unsure.

Why did my old retinol stop working after menopause?

When oestrogen drops, the skin makes less collagen on its own, the barrier thins and it tolerates less. Ordinary retinol was designed for younger, oestrogen-supported skin: it is either too harsh at a dose that works, or too weak at a dose you tolerate. 3A uses three retinoids that convert at different speeds, so the skin gets the effect without the setback.

About 3A Renewal Cream

What is the 3A Complex?

Three forms of retinoid in one cream: retinol, which works fastest at the surface; retinyl propionate, which converts slowly and gently; and HPR, a newer retinoid that acts without first being converted and is known for low irritation. Together they give a steady effect at different depths instead of one harsh peak.

What else is in the cream?

Firming peptides (acetyl hexapeptide-5 and -8), marine collagen and sodium hyaluronate for firmness and moisture, plus Centella asiatica, liquorice root and ceramides to calm and support the barrier. The full ingredient list is on the product page.

How long does one jar last?

The jar holds 30 ml. Used every evening on face and neck, it lasts around six to eight weeks. Since results are judged after 6–12 weeks, most customers choose the two- or three-jar package so they do not run out halfway.

How should I store it?

Cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, with the lid closed. Retinoids are sensitive to light and air. A bathroom cabinet or bedside drawer is fine; a sunny windowsill is not.

Is it made for women over 45 only?

It is designed for skin that has changed with hormones: thinner, drier, less firm along the jawline and neck. That is most common after 45, but anyone with that kind of skin can use it. Younger, resilient skin usually does not need three retinoids.

Routine and combinations

In which order do I use cleanser, serum and cream?

Evening: cleanse, pat dry, 3A Renewal Serum, then 3A Renewal Cream. Morning: cleanse or rinse, moisturiser if you like, and always SPF. Keep it that simple; more steps do not mean better results.

Can I combine it with vitamin C?

Yes, but at different times of day: vitamin C in the morning under your SPF, 3A in the evening. Using both at the same time increases the risk of irritation without adding effect.

What about acids (AHA/BHA) and exfoliation?

Not on the same evening, at least for the first two months. Once your skin is settled, you can use a mild acid one or two mornings a week. Skip scrubs and strong peels altogether; the retinoids already renew the surface.

Do I need a separate moisturiser on top?

Usually not; the cream is a full night moisturiser with hyaluronic acid and ceramides. If your skin is very dry in winter, a plain moisturiser on top is fine and will not reduce the effect.

Do I still need sunscreen?

Yes, every morning, all year. Retinoids make the skin more sensitive to UV, and sun is the fastest way to undo the firmness you are building. SPF 30 or higher is enough.

Results

When will I see results?

Smoother texture and a more even tone usually within the first two to three weeks. Firmness along the jawline and neck is slower, because it depends on new collagen: give it 6–12 weeks of nightly use, and judge it then, not before.

What if I do not see any difference?

Then you email us within 60 days of your order and get your money back. We ask two things first: that you used it every evening, and that you give it the time it needs. Most women who write to us after four weeks see the change by week eight.

Will the effect disappear if I stop?

Slowly, yes. Skin keeps renewing itself, so the smoother texture fades over a few months without retinoids. The firmness you have built lasts longer. Most customers continue nightly, or switch to three evenings a week to maintain.

Can a cream really replace injections?

No, and we will not claim it. Fillers add volume in one visit; a retinoid cream builds firmness and texture over months. What most women tell us is that they wanted to look rested and like themselves, not different, and that this is what 3A gives them, for a fraction of the yearly cost of a clinic.
